Danone India has launched a new infant formula brand called Neocate, intended for use in the dietary management of cow’s milk allergy.
Cow’s milk allergy is one of the most common food allergies among infants and young children globally and is caused by one or more cow’s milk proteins triggering an adverse reaction to a body’s immune system.
Danone claimed that the recommended management of infants with cow’s milk allergy is extensively hydrolysed protein or amino acid-based formulas such as Neocate.
The new product is a hypoallergenic amino acid-based formula based on 100% free amino acids and does not contain any cow’s milk protein.
Commenting on the launch of Neocate in India, Danone executive vice president of India and Africa Pierre Andre Terisse said that the company’s extensive range of tailored nutrition products helps infants lead a normal, healthy life.
Danone India managing director Rodrigo Lima added: “The launch of Neocate is a step towards realising our ambition for India, by bringing global solutions for the management of cow’s milk allergy.
“Neocate will help to address the growing challenges of healthcare professionals and parents in the dietary management of cow’s milk allergy, making everyday life little easier for families.”
The product is now available in select Indian cities as well as Amazon.
