Analytics company Sotrender has presented a new smartphone app that helps food and drink industry start-ups to get to grips with social media.
Sombrero is billed as a “personal e-marketing trainer” that will convert marketing newbies into professionals and help small-to-medium-sized businesses get new clients through some of the most commonly used online channels. Free to download, Sombrero debuted on Google Play and the Apple App Store this month, consisting of training plans designed to suit the need of complete novices and those with some – albeit limited – digital marketing experience.
As part of the experience, the app gives users personalised tasks, monitors their progress and motivates them to perform better. Each individual user can check their progress at any time and the app shows goals and performance indicators such as growth in the number of fans.
Every training plan comprises between 15 and 20 tasks, each designed in a way that requires less than 15 minutes to perform and complete. Sombrero can therefore be used by employees who also have other duties in their company, Sotrender added, and the tasks are shareable with colleagues.
The company continued: “Basic training plan covers such topics as content creation, branding and social media optimisation, measuring data, customer service, target group and competition tracking. After a basic course the user will understand essentials such as how to communicate with followers and fans, which content is the best on different social media and how to conduct e-marketing effectively.”
