Diageo has appointed Heineken’s former chief marketing officer Nuno Teles as the new president of its US beer division.
Teles will assume his position at Diageo Beer Company, USA on 1 March 2018, and will report directly to Diageo North America president Deirdre Mahlan.
Teles had been in his previous role at Heineken since 2014, and has held several positions in the beer industry over a fourteen year period.
He started his beer industry career at Scottish & Newcastle before moving to Heineken, and while at the Dutch brewer he operated in markets all over the world, including Portugal, Brazil and the US.
Diageo has stated that Teles “has a strong understanding of the US market, its channels, consumers and distributors.”
Deirdre Mahlan, president of Diageo North America said: “I am delighted Nuno is joining our business. He has strong strategic orientation, commerciality and thought leadership.
“I know he will be a strong partner to me and the rest of the North America Executive in delivering our ambitions.”
The company also announced that its chief sales officer Tom Day will retain his advisory role as chairman of Diageo Beer Company, USA.
