Flours and gluten-free products maker Doves Farm has launched new plain chocolate chips in a bid to appeal to the homebaking market.
The 140g container of chocolate chips is suitable for those with gluten, milk, peanut and soya intolerances. It is made using organic, Fairtrade 55% cocoa solids for an intensely rich flavour and applications in cakes, muffins, brownies, cookies and pancakes.
Through stocking in the main baking aisle, the company has signalled its intention to reach appeal among the masses and not just those with special dietary requirements. Clare Marriage, co-founder and CEO of Doves Farm, said: “Chocolate is naturally gluten-free but it is quite hard to find chocolate chips that are guaranteed to be free from peanuts, milk and soya too. We think this product is possibly the first of its kind to enter the market and as such should be extremely popular.”
It is available through Ocado, a selection of health stores and Doves Farm’s own online shop for a price of £4.19.
