British doughnut brand Dum Dum Doughnuts has created a “crone” – an entirely new product consisting of an ice cream cone made using Dum Dum’s patented baked croissant doughnut dough, filled with a choice of artisan ice creams, handmade sauces and a selection of unique toppings.
The new innovations will go on sale in London on Thursday, at one of the capital’s landmark markets, and the event will be celebrated by offering the first 50 customers in line a free crone.
Its development has been made possible thanks to a collaboration between the founder of Dum Dum Doughnuts, Paul Hurley, and Camden’s Future of Retail concept – part of incubator IncuBus Ventures’ growth programme, which has chosen ten of the most exciting and innovative fast growing brands in the UK to showcase their businesses, test new product lines and get market feedback.
Dum Dum founder Paul Hurley said: “As Camden Market’s vision is to encourage and promote young British brands of the future, it made it the obvious place to launch the crone. Visitors to Camden Market are diverse and well-educated on the best food from around the world. So I think they are going to love the crone.”
Described as the world’s first artisan baked doughnut brand, Dum Dum Doughnuts has gone from strength to strength so far this year; the company is now international following the launch of its first of ten planned “donutteries” in Dubai.
The launch of Dum Dum’s crone is the latest in a series of innovations from the brand, which also include the Dubai Doughnut – a baked croissant dough filled with Karak chai tea, coated in rosewater glaze, then dusted in cinnamon and ground pistachio.
