Efficiency was the name of the game for many of the exhibitors I visited during my second day at Brau as Gebo Cermex unveiled version 6 of its EIT Efficiency Improvement Tool for complete plant intelligence.
Crown talked me through its Customer Technical Service, which helps beverage companies identify issues with production and provides solutions to help them boost efficiency, safety and efficiency. It is increasingly the suppliers to food and beverage manufacturers that are forging ahead with tools and services to help identify losses in equipment effectiveness and bring solutions.
“We always offer solutions to any issues we identify in plant and can even help companies to cost out the necessary improvements or investments required to overcome the issues,” said Andy Powell, CTS Manager, container handling systems, Crown, who confirmed that Crown offered this service over and above its novel can packaging offerings to support its customers in improving the quality and safety of their end products as well as their efficiency.
“Companies are focusing more and more on their own centre of expertise such as creating excellent food and beverage products, marketing, formulation and R&D of new products rather than on the equipment that they use,” said Jean-Marc Passemard, external communication manager, Gebo Cermex. “So, we help support them with our asset performance optimization service. Using our expertise and our EIT tool, we collect and analyse data from the machines and find solutions to help companies regain any lost efficiency from their equipment.”
As Crown points out, with production throughputs at 2,000 cans per minute, any slight improvement in performance makes a dramatic difference to the bottom line.
Krohne discussed how its new all-in-one device for temperature and pressure measurement can help with the collation of important data from the line. Combined with its flowmeter technology in its Optiswirl range it brings significant savings in cost as well as ease of maintenance and management of multiple monitoring devices, and brings reliable information to help improve efficiency.
These and the other myriad innovations throughout the aisles this week are sure to help manufacturers everywhere keep tabs on their production, reduce their losses and boost performance. We look forward to reporting on them in greater detail after the show.
