The trends on show are obvious but nonetheless exciting. In the processing arena, it’s all about saving energy and reducing water use. There’s plenty on offer for bottlers working in difficult environments such as high humidity or dust. Expect more on these interesting development in future issues of Food & Beverage International and Beverage Innovation.
The ingredients companies are for the most part helping brand owners move towards developing lower calorie and increasingly natural products, and I had never thought that so many options were possible for flavouring beer.
In closures, I’ve seen four genuinely new things today. Two, from Aptar, we’ll be talking more about in the next few days and there’ll be a video interview to look at them in more detail too.
The other two are ‘top secret’, so while we’ve had a private preview, you’ll have to be patient until the companies involved are prepared to break their silence! Suffice to say they are both in the rapidly evolving dispensing closure category.
We have a full team at Drinktec and it will be interesting to hear their different views of this busy and inspiring show over the next few days.
