General Mills-owned snack brand Epic Provisions has launched a new line of protein bars made from cage-free egg whites, nuts, and dried fruit.
Called Epic Performance, the bar range is available in four flavours: peanut butter, peanut butter chocolate, almond butter chocolate, and lemon. Each has six ingredients or less and no added sugar.
Epic Provisions co-founder Taylor Collins said: “With all Epic products, we purposefully innovate and produce in order to positively impact the animal supply chains we source from.
“The launch of Epic Performance Bars is only the start. Creating a product made from cage-free, non-GMO egg whites is the first step to taking on our commitment to lead and improve the development of premium, pasture-raised laying hen supply chains.”
Epic Provisions said has improved the laying hen supply chain by converting ten laying hen farms in the US from conventional practices to cage-free models.
The US brand – which started by selling the Epic meat, fruit and nut bar – was acquired by General Mills in 2016. It was founded in 2013 by Taylor Collins and Katie Forrest, both competitive athletes seeking a convenient way to add nourishing animal protein to their diets.
The new Epic Performance Bars are now available in the US, retailing for $2.29 each.
