Swift, who is director regulatory affairs for SCA Packaging, has responsibilities across Europe, including external representation of the company for a wide range of sustainability and environmental issues.
Seven additional Europen members were elected to the executive committee for the period 2009-2011. They are:
Europen’s MD, Julian Carroll, said that the composition of the new committee includes representation from the different packaging chain sectors, which reflects the organisation’s membership.
John Swift has been closely involved with issues concerning sustainable development both within his company and in trade associations at national, European and international level. He’s a leading industry representative in standardisation work in Europe with CEN and internationally with ISO, chairs one of the key CEN subcommittees on packaging, and was at the forefront of developing the standards that provide a demonstration of compliance with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive’s Essential Requirements.
He’s now leading one of the drafting groups developing the ISO standard for the carbon footprint of products.
Europen is an industry and trade organisation open to any company with an economic interest in packaging and packaged products. It presents the opinion of its members on issues related to packaging and the environment.
