Scottish drinks brand Finnieston Distillery Company has launched a new range of Scotch whisky-blended cocktails.
Glasgow-based Finnieston, which was formally called Dram2O, aims to target people who may not see themselves as traditional whisky drinkers.
The ready-to-drink cans are being launched across the UK in June and are made using Finnieston’s own blended Scotch whisky, created in partnership with Scotch blenders Douglas Laing & Co.
The four flavours are: Finnieston fling, with ginger ale, lemon and lime; old fashioned green tea; Scotch on the beach, featuring ginger beer, vanilla and strawberry; Shanghai sour, with honey and lemon.
Finnieston founder and CEO James Doig believes there is a broad target market, both male and female, for products which combine familiar cocktail names with Scotland’s national drink.
“Since we formed the business, our aim has been to take an innovative approach to Scotch whisky by creating high quality, convenient, ready-to-drink cocktails with a strong identity,” he said.
“Obviously, there are certain traditions around Scotch whisky drinking. We take the view that people should drink it how they want, not how they’re told to. We believe we’ve produced a range which combines the best elements of traditional and contemporary flavours.
“In line with Scotch whisky’s international profile, we’ve designed our range with a global audience in mind but it’s fair to say that our initial focus will be on the UK market.”
