Faerch Plast has created a new packaging material made from 100% recycled PET for use in food-to-go packaging.
The material will be available from 1 January 2019, and will be launched through Faerch Plast’s Food to Go product range.
The company says that the material will reduce the need to use virgin materials, and that the new material showcases the company’s ambition to “close the loop on PET trays,” and boosts its sustainability efforts.
Mark Tollman, sales director of Faerch Plast UK & Ireland added: “We see this as a great innovation for our customers and the environment, as we continue to develop sustainable packaging”.
“This innovation is a further commitment to the UK Plastics Pact, which we are proud to be a founding member of”.
Earlier this year, Faerch Plast acquired Netherlands-based packaging material and recycling specialist 4PET Group, as the company aims to achieve a circular economy for recycling food trays.
