Fairlife has partnered with Boardwalk Frozen Treats to launch a range of ice cream, marking its first venture outside the beverage category.
Fairlife Light Ice Cream is made from ultra-filtered milk and is lactose-free. It is said to contain 40% less sugar compared to leading brands of traditional ice cream and offer 8-9g of protein per serving.
Free from artificial preservatives or colours, the new range comes in seven flavours: Vanilla, Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Double Fudge Brownie, Java Chip and Mint Chip.
Commenting on the brand’s latest launch, Fairlife CEO Tim Doelman said: “It’s an honour to work with Boardwalk Frozen Treats, a company with extensive experience in the sales, marketing, and distribution of national ice cream brands. Our partnership with them allows us the opportunity to explore the world of frozen desserts.
“Our light ice cream has either a third of the calories, or half the fat, of traditional ice cream, or in some cases both. We hope to change the perception that frozen treats with improved nutritional profiles don’t taste as good as traditional ice cream, especially for the 76% of consumers who make an effort to eat healthy.”
Fairlife’s ultra-filtered ice cream is available in the US, for an RRP of $4.98 per 14oz tub, from grocery retailers including Albertsons, Walmart, Harris Teeter Supermarkets and Safeway.
Earlier this year, the Coca-Cola Company took full ownership of Fairlife by purchasing the remaining 57.5% stake in the company from joint venture partner Select Milk Producers.
