Ferrero USA has opened a new distribution centre in Georgia to increase capacity and support its North American expansion.
Located in McDonough, Georgia, the newly-constructed facility marks the fifth USA facility that Ferrero has opened in the past year.
The 728,000 square-foot facility will add distribution capacity for the company’s newly-acquired brands – following its deal with Nestlé for its US confectionery unit – such as Butterfinger, Crunch and Babyruth.
Over time, the centre will reportedly distribute other classic Ferrero brands including Nutella, Tic Tac, Kinder and Ferrero Rocher.
Projected to begin operating by early September, the company also anticipates that the new centre will add 250 local jobs.
In recent months, Ferrero has opened two new distribution centres in Arizona and Pennsylvania, expanded its North American headquarters in New Jersey, as well as assumed management of two manufacturing plants in Bloomington and Franklin Park, Illinois.
“This represents another important milestone in the expansion of our logistics capabilities in the market,” said Luca Robbiano, vice president, North America supply chain for Ferrero.
He continued: “Our new distribution centres in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and now Georgia are crucial for driving both strong organic and acquisition-driven growth.”
Paul Chibe, president and CEO of Ferrero North America, added: “Ferrero is committed to continue growing in the US. The McDonough distribution centre will help us bring our products to more people in the market, and will bring great employment opportunities to the people of Henry County at a crucial time.”
