US alcohol producer Sazerac is releasing two new tropical pineapple and watermelon flavours of its Taaka brand of vodka.
The innovations were designed to offer a warming taste of the tropics, with maximum possible mixability. “While pineapple and watermelon are conventional flavours, they are both easy to identify with and complement a range of mixing possibilities,” Sazerac said.
Bottled in 750ml formats, the 30% ABV vodka will launch into retailers across the US market this spring, with a price of $7.99. They will join the brand’s existing product range, which includes varieties such as cherry, coconut and pink lemonade – as well as cake and whipped cream flavours.
The introduction of two new varieties is consistent with wider flavour innovation: last week, we reported that Woodland Radicle Brands had released a new spirit inspired by ancient Aztec civilisation that combined tequila, cayenne peppers and habanero chillies. This is in spite of recent research that suggested flavoured vodkas were losing market share to flavoured whiskey.
Sazerac’s marketing director for vodka, Tracey Clapp, said: “These two new flavours are fun, come with great fresh taste, and are familiar flavours. We’re excited to offer our Taaka fans more flavours to discover and enjoy.”
