Tine Snels (l) and John R Garrett sign the agreement between their two firms.
FrieslandCampina Domo and US-based Glycosyn are combining their expertise to form a global partnership for the development of new infant nutrition ingredients.
Glycosyn has developed a patented technology for the production of oligosaccharides from lactose, and FrieslandCampina Domo – part of the Dutch dairy company’s ingredients business – will produce and introduce these new ingredients onto the global market. The two parties signed a technology and partnership agreement.
Glycosyn co-CEO John R Garrett said: “Human milk oligosaccharides are specialised carbohydrates, which are naturally prevalent in mothers’ milk. Through our expertise and know-how we have developed technologies that will complement FrieslandCampina’s extensive history and knowledge of infant nutrition ingredients, products and markets.”
Tine Snels, executive director of FrieslandCampina Ingredients, added: “Glycosyn helps us to take a very exciting step towards developing the next generation of infant nutrition and to strengthen our position as a market leader in infant nutrition ingredients. We are doing this to meet the growing global demand for high-quality ingredients. Our cooperation is a perfect example of co-creation. The first quantities for trials will be available in the current year.”
