FrieslandCampina has extended its partnership with Dutch agri-agency Agriterra by another five years.
Agriterra provides advice to 660,000 farmers worldwide, and FrieslandCampina and Agriterra have been working together since 2012, implementing programmes to help improve the livelihoods and output of smallholder dairy farmers in Asia and Africa through sustainable production methods.
The partnership has provided advice on subjects such as good governance, human resource management, marketing, farm management, member commitment, finance, business planning and extension services to support farmers in countries such as Thailand, Indonesia and Nigeria.
FrieslandCampina has also been providing dairy expertise to dairy farmers for over 35 years through its Dairy Development Programme, which reaches over 250,000 dairy farmers directly or indirectly every year.
FrieslandCampina chief executive officer Hein Schumacher said: “The partnership is one of the ways in which FrieslandCampina brings its purpose nourishing by nature to life.
“By joining forces with Agriterra we support farmers in other parts of the world to make a better living and improve food security.
“Member farmers and employees of FrieslandCampina come back energized from their missions, because in little time they have been able to support dairy cooperatives to take great steps. I look forward to continuing to make an impact together with Agriterra.”

“Agriterra’s pool of experts from the Dutch cooperative sector is a unique feature in the approach of Agriterra. Agripool experts advise, train and share experiences on a peer-to-peer basis.
