Frizzenti has opened its first own-branded bar serving wine on draught, after earlier announcing the launch of a tap dispensing system for still wines.
The Fizz! bar, in the city of Birmingham, is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK and offers “a consistently high quality glass of sparkling or still wine in a convenient and fast-served format”, Frizzenti said. It will serve Italian sparkling wines together with Frizzenti’s new range of red, white and rosé wines from Europe – as well as cocktails and Peroni beer.
Wines served on tap never suffer from oxidation like bottled wine does. The kegs are pressurised using an inert gas so oxygen can’t mix with the wine, guaranteeing that the last glass is as fresh as the first. This reduces, if not eliminates, waste and the costs of recycling bottles together with the growing problem of landfill, which is where a surprising number of “recycled” bottles end up, the brand claimed. Each 20-litre keg contains the equivalent of 26 bottles of wine, massively reducing storage issues and the need for chiller space. Stocktaking is speeded up, as is speed of service, making it a faster and slicker experience for both staff and consumers.
Frizzenti managing director George Workman said: “Frizzenti is supplying more and more outlets in the UK so our stature in the trade is growing. We felt it was time to step up a gear by opening our first branded static bar. We hope that the Birmingham Fizz! bar will be the first of many giving us an opportunity to showcase the advantages of serving wine from a keg – the consistently high quality of the wine, the speed of service and the environmental benefits, not to mention cost savings.
“We’re really excited by the consumer offering we have at the Fizz! bar but we also think it looks amazing too, almost like an art installation thanks to the modular nature of the bar unit. We believe we have brought to Birmingham a funky, edgy new place to socialise that will appeal to young urbanites keen to enjoy a fresh glass of our prosecco, sparkling or still wines.”
