Grocery Accelerator founders Rob Ward, Paddy Willis and Simon Lacey will mentor the brands.
A food and drinks industry accelerator has offered fledgling food and drink brands the chance to win a place on a business breakthrough programme, securing £60,000’s worth of investment and the opportunity to turn their company into a multi-million pound business.
The Grocery Accelerator will offer a combined investment fund of £360,000 to six successful applicants, who will also receive a comprehensive package of ongoing support from the scheme’s co-founders. Paddy Willis, Simon Lacey and Rob Ward will provide practical experience, commercial insight and inspiration to the six brands, based on their track record of building substantial and profitable grocery brands in the UK food and drink sector.
Grocery Accelerator co-founder Paddy Willis said: “This is an incredible opportunity for ambitious and passionate food and drink businesses looking to scale up to the next level. The Grocery Accelerator is designed to support promising young brands with high-growth potential. Funding and industry know-how are often a key barrier to entrepreneurial success – but we will give them all the tools they need to break through.”
Nick Brake, marketing director of The Rutland Charcuterie Company, which was one of the six winners of last year’s accelerator, said: “Being a Grocery Accelerator winner takes it all to another level – it will undoubtedly be the most important factor in the success of our business.”
And James Dawson, partner in fellow winner T Plus Drinks, added: “Grocery Accelerator has been instrumental in helping us understand the FMCG market and enable us to accelerate our growth in a way we simply couldn’t have done alone.”
The scheme is accepting applications until 16 August.
