Craft beer maker Harviestoun Brewery has launched a new raspberry-infused black ale, as well as an IPA made using American citrus hops.
The Scottish brewery has introduced Raspy Engine, created by head brewer Amy Cockburn and inspired by a visit to a fruit farm close to Harviestoun’s brewery in Clackmannanshire. Using the brewery’s iconic Old Engine Oil as a base, it draws upon fresh Scottish raspberries for a “rich and velvety” taste.
Harviestoun Brewery has likened the new brew to “a grown-up dark chocolate and raspberry pudding” with red fruit notes, and has launched it under the brewery’s Wee Beastie collection of experimental beers.
Launching alongside Raspy Engine is Harviestoun IPA. Made using American citrus hops – such as citra, simcoe, amarillo and appollo – it is an authentic American-style IPA with plenty of long-lasting flavour. The beer maker said that the IPA “has been given a superior body… and is made using the finest malted barley”.
