Heineken is boosting its Strongbow range in the US with its Artisanal Blend cider, made from three varieties of heirloom cider apples.
The company said the time is ripe for the Artisanal Blend, as blends become increasingly popular among younger drinkers.
The three apples used are Dabinett, Major and Harry Master’s Jersey. Together they are said to create a ‘natural sweetness balanced by the flavor of grassy earth and an acidic pop of tartness’.
With an ABV of 6%, Heineken said the beverage has a ‘crisp, refreshing taste’.
Heineken USA master brewer Paul van der Aar said: “Our generations-old cider-making tradition is about celebrating the purity and farm-fresh natural flavours of the apples we care for in our orchards.
“We combine old world simplicity with modern skill and artistry to blend the apples for a consistent, complex, yet approachable flavour that perfectly balances sharpness, natural sweetness and bitterness.”
Artisanal Blend joins the Strongbow family of ciders, including Gold Apple, Cherry Blossom and Orange Blossom. All contain no artificial flavours or colours.
The drink is now available in the US in six-pack bottles, variety 12-packs and variety 24-packs. All Strongbow flavours are also available in a limited-edition mini can four-pack with a recommended retail price of $1.
