Coinciding with national hot dog day in the US, Heinz has launched a new sauce to win over Chicago consumers.
Many of the city’s restaurants and food trucks have an unwritten rule to not serve ketchup with hot dogs. However, Heinz hopes its new variety – called Chicago Dog Sauce and made with tomatoes and a special blend of spices – will garner support.
The product launch will be boosted by an integrated campaign including print and out-of-home advertising as well as sampling around the Chicago area.
Chicago Dog Sauce is available for a limited time with a recommended retail price of $5.
