I’ve tried many coffees and have decided that Illy is my favourite. I always look for the Illy sign when I’m in town and when the urge for coffee and cake hits me like a combine harvester, though sometimes I have to settle for a ‘second best’ coffee from someone who doesn’t serve Illy, and then it’s down to how good the barista is at making it.
At home, I have a Tassimo machine, which is actually great for making a no-fuss cappuccino or latte. However, I would really love an Illy machine for my kitchen. I came across the company’s new Y1 ‘iperEspresso’ machine today, which looks great and would appease my coffee snobbery if only it could appease my cappuccino snobbery at the same time. The thing is, espresso is too strong for my delicate constitution, and cappuccino is just so, well, right. (True coffee aficionados, please forgive me.)
Perhaps I’m just lazy. I want the machine to steam and froth the milk for me, even though I could probably do it myself. Does anyone know of an Illy machine that will prod me awake in the morning and play ‘Blackbird’ by The Beatles as it delivers a frothy cappuccino with a biscuit on the side?
I’d pay good money for that.
