Scentium, the flavour division of the Iberchem Group, has opened a new production centre in Tunis, Tunisia, to better serve local customers.
Located next to the Iberchem Group’s existing fragrance facility, the new subsidiary covers nearly 700 square metres and is “fully equipped for the production of liquid and powder flavours as well as emulsions”.
The site includes a production plant, two warehouses, ‘extensive’ laboratory installations, and administration offices.
The Iberchem Group is newly part of the Croda Group, having recently been acquired by the speciality chemicals company in an €820 million deal.
“Our new flavour centre in Tunis is a testimony to the substantial growth Scentium has been experiencing in recent years, both locally and globally,” said José Manuel Mateos, general manager of Scentium.
“It represents a cornerstone of our global expansion plan. It will allow us to offer faster production and delivery times to our local customers, who were previously looked after from our head office in Spain. It will also provide them with additional sales and technical assistance.”
Tarek Kort, technical director at Scentium Tunisia, added: “Our new subsidiary…benefits from modern laboratory installations with tasting rooms and application labs. All the space, including the administrative offices, includes extra room to accommodate the planned growth of the company.”
Earlier this year, Iberchem Group announced the creation of Iberchem South Africa, bringing together the teams of Iberchem, Scentium and Versachem in a single entity.
