Better-for-you ice cream brand Enlightened has expanded into dairy-free ice cream bars, amid incessant demand from consumers for dairy-free alternatives.
The US brand already makes a range of dairy-free pint tubs, as well as its traditional full-dairy line-up, but this will be the first time that the company has expanded its dairy-free portfolio into ice cream sticks.
Made from an almond milk base that aims to recreate the same taste and texture of regular Enlightened bars, the dairy-free launches each contain 100kcal.
There are are five initial flavours: salted caramel; mint chip; mocha chocolate chip; ‘monkey business’, which combines peanut butter, chocolate chips and banana; and finally peanut butter and jelly.
Michael Shoretz, founder and CEO of Enlightened, said: “We’re thrilled to introduce our creamy dairy-free frozen desserts in spoon-free format. With the introduction of our dairy-free pints, we began serving a whole new community, and offering our dairy-free bars was the next logical step. But whether you’re dairy-free or just an ice cream lover, we’re confident you’ll love our new bars!”
The bars will be available online and through retailers such as Albertsons, Safeway, HEB, Shoprite, Vons and Sprouts.
