With ice cream makers seeing sales increase by more than 300% it has strengthened the appeal for farmers to diversify into ice cream production.
To meet the demand for information The Ice Cream Alliance – the trade association for the UK’s £1bn ice cream industry – is providing expert knowledge and support to farmers during its annual Ice Cream Expo.
The event is being held at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate between 18-20 of February 2014. In addition to technical seminars experts will be on hand to provide advice and guidance to farmers wishing to diversify.
ICA chief executive officer, Zelica Carr, said: “It’s been a bumper season for the ice cream industry and those farmers who have already established quality artisan business have performed really well.
“Demand for high quality ice cream remains extremely strong and it’s never too late for farmers to invest. We can help by providing a fund of information and expertise including technical information and recipes.”
