The global clean label trend is guiding industry innovations. Nowadays, consumers are involved in the management of their own health, as well as being concerned about environmental issues.
It results in a search for naturalness, simplicity and sustainability. Consumers are becoming more interested and aware of the ingredients in their food and beverages.
There is no official definition of clean label. It is generally associated with less and simpler ingredients, that are natural and recognisable.
The concept of ‘clean label’ was born ten years ago and is still evolving with consumers’ expectations. Today, it also takes the idea of sustainable development and the geographical origin of the ingredients into consideration.
