At Health Ingredients Europe, Claire Phoenix talked to Beneo Group’s Bodo Fritsching and Eric Neven.
Beneo Group’s Bodo Fritsching talks about power energy chews with low glycaemic Palatinose as the sweetening solution. He also comments on the development of tooth friendly chocolate lentils. Due to the chemical substrate of Palatinose it cannot attack the oral substrate yet enhances food flavour with sweetness.
His colleague Eric Neven also comments on the functional carbohydrate inulin oligofructose from Orafti – new research shows how the addition of this fibre can reduce the glucose content while keeping the mouthfeel and taste the same – so saving on calories while keeping the indulgence consumers are looking for.
Here, he looks at muffins with reduced sugar content and increased fibre content. Fibre being one of the new trends that consumers understand in their health register.
Rice, being gluten free, has also grown considerably with a dramatic increase in interest in this sector and Beneo offers a number of nutritional solutions with rice.
