At Dubai’s Gulfood 2015 exhibition, held from 8-12 February, Andreas Exarheas interviewed Maiyas director, Dr P Sadananda Maiya, about the company’s new Bhel Bar creation.
The company’s roots trace back to founding father, Yajna Narayana Maiya, who started a restaurant in Bangalore. Yajna would personally choose his ingredients directly from markets and the unique flavours offered by Maiyas can be credited to the authentic recipes of Yajna.
When Dr P Sadananda Maiya started Maiyas, he drew upon his engineering skills to add to the values of the master cook his father proved himself to be. As passionate about food as his father, he delved deep into every aspect of gastronomy with the objective of reviving traditional food that he believed to be healthier and tastier.
