Italian company Custom has unveiled an augmented reality vending solution at Venditalia 2018 which gives operators the power to change prices and begin marketing campaigns across their vending portfolio simultaneously.
Called the Custom V-Up, the system allows customers to see the nutritional information of products in vending machines when they hold up their smartphones or tablets.
Cristian Ravazzini, EMEA director for Custom’s industrial and kiosk business unit, told Jules Scully how Custom aims to offer a retail solution similar to online shopping.
“We think that also in the vending market in front of the machine you can have the same experience that you have with Amazon or Google when you search something.”
He added: “You can buy the product through the augmented reality. You don’t need to touch the machine, select the products, put [in] the coins or put the key. So you can easily push the button and buy the products.”
The V-Up technology also gives vending operators a panel to control all their machines in the field and see statistics from each unit and product.
