Cooler Plus spoke with Oasis business development manager Sonja Klacar.
What are the principal benefits of filtration?
Even when the water in a particular municipality is safe, it is possible that the water pipes and fittings in a house or business are actually contaminating the drinking water. Even if the quality of our tap water is excellent, we might still experience bad taste and odour, as most cities chlorinate drinking water, which controls bacteria but often leaves a powerful, almost swimming pool-like taste and smell.
One of the common problems in almost every city is old piping systems that affect the quality of water while it travels from the source to the tap. As a result, sediment, rust and metals contaminate the water that may have been tested as safe at the municipal water treatment station before entering the piping system.
Many trace chemicals can be found in mains water supplies. The water supply can contain chlorine and varying amounts of dissolved minerals. It is also common to find traces of iron, manganese, copper, aluminium, nitrates, insecticides, herbicides and numerous bacteria and viruses – not to mention the vast array of pharmaceuticals, including antibiotics and mood stabilisers that are now being found in mains water supplies.
Filtration provides a viable low cost alternative to bottled water. It removes dangerous contaminants from our drinking water while retaining healthy minerals necessary for the human body.
Have you noticed increased demand for simple water filtration solutions?
Yes, thanks to mass media and developing home and office delivery (HOD) market we see a growing awareness of people about the need to treat their
tap water before drinking or using it for cooking. Each day the eco-conscience is growing a bit more. However, most households still need to be educated about the advantages of water filtration compared to bottled water.
How can you be sure to satisfy consumer needs?
We are well aware that each country has its own legal requirements as well as different water quality standards. Also, there are many different contaminants that may be present in different water supplies. That is why Oasis offers a wide variety of filter elements available to meet almost every water filtration need. For production of our filtration products, we only deal with well-reputed reliable suppliers and state of the art components.
What does Oasis offer in terms of filters and filtrations? What special features do these solutions have?
Oasis offers a wide range of filtration products adapted to each sector and budget.
The main disadvantage of traditional filtration systems is the environmental impact of disposing of a plastic filter – six million plastic filters are thrown away every year. This results in over 1,000 tonnes of plastic being sent to landfill (plastic is non-biodegradable). Manufacture of these housings consumes more than one million units of electricity.
The Oasis green filter system addresses all of these environmental issues: there is no water rejected as part of the filtration process – if 1,000 litres of water pass through the filter, then you end up with 1,000 litres of clean drinking water. The under-sink green filter system saves money, space, time and the environment. Conveniently installed under a sink, it gives all the benefits of free flowing filtered water without taking up precious counter space.
The Galaxi’s unique filter design combines activated carbon with a cellulose-free synthetic fibre matrix; it performs as a sediment filter and a carbon block in a single cartridge. Superior to traditional active carbon filter elements, the galaxi takes water filtration to the next level. Its solid block carbon selectively removes dangerous contaminants from drinking water while maintaining water pH balance. And it filters twice as much as a typical filter, resulting in less filter changes.
The Remedi is a new type of water filter media combining the proven benefits of standard pleated filters with a breakthrough in nano-technology to create a unique filter with removal capabilities well beyond the scope of conventional filtration technologies. Utilising the principle of electro-adhesion, Remedi is capable of removing a wide range of water borne contaminants including bacteria, cysts, viruses and colloidal particles.
The natura water system provides the HoReCa sector a viable alternative to bottled water. It eliminates the use of disposable glass or plastic bottles and also significantly lowers carbon footprint since there is no storage, transportation or processing costs involved with the water. Each system comes with a filtration package that purifies tap water through three different high tech natura filters. The water is then chilled and carbonated through a special chiller or carbonation unit. Only about 15 seconds is needed to fill a one litre bottle of pure and tasty natura water. The machine has a huge capacity of 80 litres per hour.
