Health-focused Irish bakery brand BFree has launched its new quinoa and chia seed wraps in Tesco stores in the country.
Made using teff and flax seeds, the wraps offer a healthy sandwich alternative at just 105 calories per wrap, with a recommended retail price of €4.60. Dublin-based BFree has said that their introduction will help it to target existing consumer demand for healthier foods and, in particular, the growing demand for superfoods.
The bakery has also partnered up with Costa Coffee to launch a sweet chilli chicken variety multigrain wrap. Both products are suitable for consumers with a gluten intolerance, amid a growing prevalence of coeliac disease worldwide. 1% of Irish consumers have been diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, BFree stated.
BFree general manager Alex Murphy said: “We are very excited to be extending our range of BFree products into supermarkets across Ireland. We have seen a real need amongst our consumers for such products, as 67% prefer the health-promoting benefits of superfoods in their diets. The quinoa and chia seed wrap, we feel, meets this need.”
