The Asian-inspired food brand itsu has launched a range of brilliant’broth ramen bases to provide consumers with a Japanese style soup-base for ‘easy bowl suppers’.
Traditionally a dish that can take many hours to cook from scratch, itus’s brillant’broth enables consumers to make authentic ramen for two people in minutes. Itsu said that its broth needs heating and can then be poured over a selection of protein, vegetables and a base such as noodles, rice or pulses.
The range of broths will be sold exclusively in M&S in the UK as part of a partnership, as the store aims to appeal to a younger demographic with its new cuisines.
According to itsu, after several months of testing 100 recipes, the company perfected its final three brilliant’broth flavours, which include: vegan miso mushroom, classic chicken ramen and classic ramen.
Itsu simmers together umami red miso, mushrooms and sweet mirin rice wine to create its vegan miso mushroom ramen.
Meanwhile, its chicken ramen uses British roast chicken and vegetables, blended with spices, mirin, sesame and a hint of chili.
Finally, itsu’s classic ramen is an adaptation of the local dish ‘tsuyu’ that uses ‘dashi’ stock from Japan, mirin rice wine and soy sauce.
Founder of itsu Julian Metcalfe said: “itsu’s brilliant’broth represents months of intense development and unwavering commitment to creating the highest quality, most authentic tasting products.
“This new addition to our expanding grocery range uses genuine ingredients sourced from Japan to give consumers restaurant-quality ramen in just three minutes. We are confident that M&S, known for a high-quality, innovative fresh section, is the perfect partnership for the launch of this product.”
To accompany the broths, M&S is launching a selection of authentic noodles, vegetables and protein allowing customers to create their bowls including chilli tofu with edamame beans and sweet soy and ginger flat iron steaks.
Itsu brilliant’broths are available in M&S for £2, alongside the selection of noodles, vegetables and protein which are also priced at £2 each.
