JBT Corporation has acquired Netherlands-based food equipment and solutions provider FTNON for €32 million to expand in the fruit and vegetable market.
FTNON, which is headquartered in Almelo, serves the fresh-cut and thermal food market with a focus on peeling, steaming, de-coring, washing, slicing and blanching.
The firm also has offices in Delft and Horst in the Netherlands, Salinas in the US and Shanghai. It serves customers in the fruit, vegetable and pet food processing industries.
JBT CEO Tom Giacomini said: “FTNON provides us entry into the fresh cut equipment market, tapping the rapidly expanding demand for ready-to-eat fresh produce.
“It also brings robotic technology for cutting, coring, and peeling fruits and vegetables – a valuable capability that reduces customers’ labour requirements.
“As part of JBT, we foresee opportunities to expand FTNON’s global penetration, grow its aftermarket business, and enhance profitability.”
JBT added that the acquisition will add annual revenue of approximately $30 million to JBT’s food-tech business.
Last year JBT expanded in the US with the purchase of high-pressure processing systems provider Avure Technologies for $57 million.
