Global ingredient producer Kemin Industries has broken ground on a new clean-label ingredient manufacturing site in Verona, Missouri.
The new facility will be the production plant for Kemin Food Technologies’ Proteus portfolio, following Kemin Industries’ acquisition of Proteus Industries earlier this year. The portfolio includes patented, clean-label protein ingredients for meat, poultry and protein-based applications.
The new 38,000-square-foot production plant represents a $40 million investment and will employ over 30 workers once fully operational.
Chris Nelson, president and CEO of Kemin Industries, said: “With its technologically advanced, sustainable and clean-label attributes, our Proteus line is in high demand with food processors that provide meat, poultry and protein-based products to consumers”.
He continued: “The Proteus products help to improve yield, nutrition and quality of functional foods and, with this new facility, we’ll be able to serve and expand our customers in the food technologies space”.
The facility is scheduled to open in March 2023.
