Kettle Chips has expanded its Discoveries crisp range with the launch of two new flavours to coincide with summer in the UK.
The new sharing variants – buttermilk chicken and sriracha mayo, and patatas bravas with paprika and aioli – feature bright packaging to secure consumer attention on-shelf.
The patatas bravas variant aims to capture the flavour of the popular Spanish dish, featuring sweet tomatoes, paprika and creamy garlic flavours.
Kettle Chips chef Phil Hovey said: “I can’t tell you how many tapas dishes I consumed in my quest to profile the perfect patatas bravas. It seems to be one of those dishes where everyone has their own twist, the variations are countless.
“We even spent two days in Spain trying versions from different bars, restaurants and regions to try and get an understanding of a true gold standard. It’s a hard life sometimes! Then began the challenging task back in my kitchen to create a dish and profile that encompassed all the very best bits. Hopefully it’s something everyone will recognise and enjoy.”
The buttermilk chicken flavour is said to have “a crunchy, spicy, moreish taste of the Deep South”.
Hovey added: “Developing our buttermilk chicken has been a real passion project of mine. It’s a food trend I’ve been itching to get my hands on for a while. The creamy spiciness of the sriracha mayo was the real challenge to capture. The textures of the dish lend themselves to a crisp base, and I’m looking forward to seeing them on the shelves.”
The new launch follows on from the introduction of the Discoveries line last year. Other flavours include: salted caramel and double cream; New York deli with pastrami, dill pickle and mustard; Gressingham duck, plum sauce and spring onion; and Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese and Cox apple chutney.
Kettle senior brand manager Kizzy Lilburne said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time for the Kettle Chips brand. Our goal is to create real food seasonings which consumers will love. The overwhelmingly positive response we’ve seen to our advertising and our continuous product innovation make us a must stock – a position we’re really proud of.”
