Kraft Heinz has announced that it will form a joint venture with American media personality Oprah Winfrey, with plans to roll out a range of new food products.
Mealtime Stories will aim to ‘make real, nutritious products more accessible to everyone’, Kraft Heinz said, and will initially offer a line of ready-to-eat, refrigerated products across a number of food categories.
Kraft Heinz will develop, manufacture, market and sell the new line of food products – at first in the US.
As part of the joint venture, 10% of the profits from the products will be donated to charities aimed at eradicating hunger.
It is not clear yet if the products will bear Oprah name, or whether she will be involved in some way in the development or marketing of the lines.
Winfrey has previously written cookery books, and last year bought a 10% stake in Weight Watchers following a long-established relationship.
The company promised to disclose additional details about the brand and products later in 2017.
Best known for her TV talk show, Winfrey has amassed a media empire that spans the worlds of broadcasting, publishing and media production. A noted philanthropist, she has an estimated fortune of $2.9 billion.
