Filling and packaging technology manufacturer Krones has purchased a 60% stake in System Logistics, an Italian supplier of intralogistics, material flow technology and warehousing solutions to the food and drinks industry.
The company, which is based in Fiorano, Northern Italy, achieved a turnover of around €100 million in 2015 and employs more than 250 people. Krones is financing the acquisition with existing liquid funds, though financial details of the acquisition have not been publicly disclosed.
The majority stake will allow Krones to enhance its performance in the field of intralogistics, particularly in terms of automated order-picking systems, and represents “a major step forward in covering the important material and data flows along the entire value creation chain of its customers”.
System Logistics develops almost all system solutions itself, including the software, so that the entire process knowhow is retained inside the firm. Its product portfolio also includes automated storage and retrieval systems including stacker cranes, mini-loads, material handling systems and automated guided vehicles.
System Logistics will remain in Fiorano, becoming part of Krones’ Machines and Lines for Beverage Production/Process Technology segment.
