Lonza Group has signed an agreement to acquire Moda Technology Partners, a software company that provides paperless quality control solutions.
The acquisition will strengthen the Rapid Testing Solutions platform of Lonza’s Bioscience division by adding a complementary product offering for quality assurance and quality control for organisations in the life-science industry.
The acquisition is expected to close during the second quarter of 2010.
In other news, Lonza has selected Nansha, its high-tech life-science site in China, as location for its new vitamin B3 manufacturing site.
The new facility will provide an additional 15,000 metric tonnes of product a year, representing an increase of more than 40% over current capacity.
Lonza will invest approximately CHF 50m in the construction of the new nicotinate plant over the next three years. The capacity will be added in phases, with the first phase expected to come on-line in 2011, followed by full operation in 2012.
