The Goodnessknows bar is Mars' new flagship low-calorie snacking option
Mars Chocolate North America has this week announced a range of expansions to its snacking portfolio, as it seeks to meet the increasingly complex demands of its consumers.
In all, the company is launching nine different innovations and variants, including a Snickers mixed nut bar, Combos sweet and salty chocolate fudge pretzel, and M&M’s to-go bottles. The company has also introduced three variants of its new Goodnessknows snack bar in response to the increasing trend towards lower-calorie snack products.
Goodnessknows combines whole nuts, real fruits, toasted oats and dark chocolate in four snackable square servings, equating to 150 calories per pack with a recommended retail price of between $1.59 and $1.99. Its introduction demonstrated Mars’ “long-term commitment to health and well-being, introducing more choices for consumers to enjoy a variety of delicious Mars brands,” it said.
The full range of Mars’ product developments has been on display at The National Confectioners Association’s Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago this week.
Goodnessknows senior brand director Kerry Cavanaugh said: “Healthier ways to snack are important right now – and people want it all when it comes to taste, convenience and nutrition. This puts Goodnessknows squarely at the centre of a huge trend and in addition to all of the real ingredients in Goodnessknows, the individual snackable squares, dark chocolate and cocoa flavanols truly sets us apart from other snack bars out there right now.”
Mars Chocolate North America vice president of sales Timothy LeBel said: “Shoppers purchase snacks and confections for a variety of reasons, and we’re seeing an increase in requests for lower caloric snack options. Our new Goodnessknows snack squares will fulfil consumers’ appetite for a new snack that tastes indulgent at 150 calories per four-square serving.”
Among the other products being launched by Mars this week are a marshmallow and caramel variant of its Milky Way chocolate brand, new Starburst orange sorbet bars, and a shareable format of the company’s Dove dark chocolate-dipped real fruit pieces.
