McCain Foods has opted to install a Versapack case erector and case packing machine from Quin Systems, as it seeks to satisfy growing production requirements.
The implementation follows the launch of McCain’s ready baked jacket potatoes in 2012, which were so popular that the company sought to add a new line to its UK facility, creating an opportunity to invest in the end-of-line process.
Versapack is compact, fast, reliable and scaleable, its manufacturer said, and features “a far simpler set up and operation than conventional systems”. Quin Systems were able to install the new technology quickly, and in line with McCain’s stringent site acceptance tests.
Jim Crookes, project engineer for the bakes line for McCain Foods, said: “I was very pleased with the planning and attention to detail of the Quin Versapack. It met McCain’s high quality standards.”
And training officer Terry Machin added: “The machine is very easy to operate and change over from one product to another.”
Quin Systems managing director Mike Webb said: “We are delighted that McCain chose Versapack to improve end-of-line packing for this product. It is a unique machine for the market, and appeals to increasing numbers of manufacturers who want to improve the speed and reliability of their case packing without expensive refurbishments or extensions.”
