According to USA Today, McDonald’s is planning to vastly expand its ‘Create Your Taste’ test platform, which allows consumers to customise their orders via touch screen kiosks.
Following a test of the new technology in a handful of McDonald’s outlets in California, the new ordering system is expected to be rolled out to around 2,000 US locations in 2015. Five additional states are expected to incorporate the new system; Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia, Missouri and Pennsylvania.
Create Your Taste lets consumers customise the type of bun they want their burger to be wrapped in, the variety of cheese, sauces and toppings, as well as many other things. It’s not yet clear if the new technology will reach Europe, but if the new expansion proves successful McDonald’s could decide to ship the idea to other locations around the world.
