Hillside Brewery has announced its latest craft beer innovation: an Australian-inspired 4.5% South Pacific amber ale.
Created by father and son Peter and Paul Williamson alongside their brewing team, the new beer is the 17th to come from the barrels of this small craft brewery tucked away on a hill in the English countryside.
Named in honour of the Australian and New Zealand-origin hops used to create the brew, Med at Work boasts a ‘vibrant tropical flavour with a robust caramel backbone’. The brewers claim it makes a perfect accompaniment to barbecues and spicy curries, or simply as a post-work beer.
Hillside Brewery director Paul Williamson said: “We’ve always loved the fresh, tropical flavours of South Pacific brews, so wanted to make our first craft ale using hops from this region.
“The light amber colour makes this a great, easy-going session ale and it is light enough to complement a range of spicier dishes without overpowering them, just like a delicate IPA. We thought there no better way to honour the Aussie heritage of the brew’s hops than with a name that nods to the land down under.”
The beverages are brewed in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside at Hillside Brewery, located on the edge of the Forest of Dean. The brewery is entirely run on renewable energy and spent hops are used to feed local dairy cattle.
Men at Work is now available as a single 330ml bottle (priced £3) or as a case of 12 bottles priced at £28.00.
