Kettle Foods-owned Metcalfe’s has launched Jumbles, a new popcorn line featuring real fruit pieces.
Available in two flavours, Jumbles is said to offer “a totally new popcorn experience”, combining different tastes and textures.
The toffee apple variant features toffee and caramel-coated popcorn with slices of dried apple; the Eton mess flavour has strawberry pieces and meringue shells together with strawberry-coated popcorn.
The gluten-free range is suitable for vegetarians and made without artificial flavours or colours.
“Our innovation team took on the enviable challenge of adding joy to our very best butterfly popcorn to recreate these classic and fun favourites, without the guilt,” said Anthony Reeson, development manager at Metcalfe’s.
“Creating a lighter option without compromising on great taste meant that we had to consume quite a few treats to help develop the perfect product.”
The range is now available at Sainsbury’s stores in the UK with a recommended retail price of £1.79 per pack. Metcalfe’s plans to add new flavours to the line in January 2020.
Founded in 2009, Metcalfe’s was acquired by Kettle Foods in 2016. As well as popcorn, the brand makes a range of rice cakes and corn chips.
