Mexican beer maker Compañía Cervecera de Coahuila will further expand its brewery in the northeast of the country, with work undertaken by brewing tanks and technology specialist Ziemann Holvrieka.
The capacity of the site in Piedras Negras, on the border with the US, will be extended by another 2.5m hectolitres to reach a total capacity of 27.5m hectolitres.
German company Ziemann Holvrieka will increase the fermentation and storage capacity with a dozen cylindro-conical tanks with a diameter of 10m each. The bright beer tank area will be equipped with another 15 bright beer tanks with a diameter of 6m each. In addition, the rest beer and yeast cellar will be expanded by one rest beer tank of 309 hectoliters and two yeast harvest tanks with a capacity of 360 hectoliters each.
Moreover, the capacity of the cross-flow filtration system for the beer recovery in the third production block will be doubled. The refrigeration plant, the CIP system and the CO2 recovery plant will be adjusted to the larger capacity. After completion, the beer from the new bright beer tanks of the third production block can be transferred to all bottling plants of the Compañía Cervecera de Coahuila and bottled there, Ziemann Holvrieka said. The Baden-Württemberg-based company will also install the required cross-over piping for Compañía Cervecera de Coahuila.
The work coincides with an existing expansion, also undertaken by Ziemann Holvrieka, to expand the facility’s capacity to 25m hectolitres. The two projects are scheduled for completion by early 2018.
