The investment will see the replacement of the existing whey dryer at Milk Link’s Taw Valley facility to create a state of the art, added value whey processing operation on one site.
The new facility will be the most advanced of its type in the UK, and among other benefits will deliver enhanced levels of energy efficiency and reduced environmental emissions.
Commenting on the announcement, Neil Kennedy, chief executive of Milk Link, said: “Our new partnership with Volac is fully in line with our strategy of ‘adding value efficiently’ in everything we do and will further enhance our ability to maximise returns to our farmer members.”
“Our partnership with Milk Link is a further positive development for Volac as part of our ambitious growth plans,” said Volac MD, James Neville. “The developing market for whey products in Europe provides an exciting opportunity, and we’re delighted to be collaborating with one of Europe’s leading dairy processors in this joint venture.”
