US dairy brand Muuna has expanded its high-protein cottage cheese portfolio with a new, limited-edition pumpkin and spice variant.
The flavour features a blend of pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice seasoning, and creamy cottage cheese, which is said to conjure the flavour of pumpkin cheesecake.
Muuna said it is responding to a heightened consumer demand for pumpkin-flavoured products. The brand quoted Nielsen figures which revealed sales of pumpkin-flavoured products were up 15% in the 52 weeks ending August 25 2018.
“There is a large demand for pumpkin spice product, and we are thrilled to debut a pumpkin and spice first in the cottage cheese category,” said Gerard Meyer, CEO of Muuna.
A 5.3-ounce snack cup of Muuna’s pumpkin and spice flavour has 8g of sugar and 17g of protein, and contains probiotics and potassium.
The pumpkin and spice cottage cheese join’s Muuna line of low-fat plain and a variety of fruit-on-the-bottom flavours such as black cherry, vanilla, raspberry, pineapple, peach, blueberry, strawberry, and mango. Three new variants were launched earlier this year.
Pumpkin and spice is now available in more than 7,500 US grocery stores for a limited time.
