Natural ingredients manufacturer Naturex has inaugurated the expansion of its factory in central Chile after acquiring a producer of plant extracts.
Naturex bought Chile Botanics in January 2014 as it sought to expand into the South American market. The facility it assumed in the city of Linares has now been totally rebuilt, offering a significant increase in production capabilities.
The company has revealed that the new site, dedicated to the extraction and purification of the quillaia tree, will employ double the staff and make the company ten times as productive as it was a year ago. The evergreen tree has applications as a foaming agent and emulsifier.
Olivier Rigaud, Naturex’s CEO, said: “We have increased our production capabilities by 10 and it will help us gain significant shares of the quillaia market… We have strong ambitions in Chile and Latin America. After the acquisition of Chile Botanics, it seemed natural to invest in this factory in order to be able to answer the need for natural ingredients in the Latin America region and better respond to worldwide demand.”
