Meat snack brand Peperami has today announced the launch of a new Tex-Mex variety, which the brand said was its “first new flavour” since the release of barbecue Peperami eight years ago.
Its introduction follows research that suggested Peperami’s consumers are interested in more adventurous flavours, as a rise in the popularity of Mexican food saw the cuisine overtake Chinese as the UK’s favourite food culture to try at home.
Peperami Tex-Mex is flavoured with onion and spices including cayenne pepper, paprika, coriander, garlic, nutmeg and cinnamon. It will be available as a single 25g stick, in packs of five, or in bags of sharers and snack packs.
Available from this month, it will join the existing three-flavour range of Peperami – including original, hot and firestick – and be supported by a £1m marketing spend across TV, PR, social and digital activity throughout 2016.
Peperami launched a bread-encased edition last October but brand owner Jack Link’s pointed out that the latest launch was the first new flavour of Peperami since 2008.
Jack Link’s marketer Pavan Chandra commented: “We’re extremely excited to introduce the first new Peperami flavour in almost a decade. We have analysed trends and listened to our consumers so we are confident that Tex-Mex is a snack which can be enjoyed by people of all ages and will satisfy their desire for new, exciting flavours.”
