The machine will initially be equipped with 3 x wet glue labelling stations to label 1 litre and 850ml conical PET bottles for Ribena. However, a major deciding factor in placing the order with Makro was the ability to add self-adhesive and hot-melt labelling stations in the future, giving Norbev ultimate flexibility in label dress application and thus future-proofing their investment.
Norbev managing director Ciaran Doherty said: “Having evaluated various labelling machines, I decided to opt for the Makro MAK-4 machine. I was impressed with a number of features on the labeller such as the optical spotting devices together with the Makro patented Magic Star, which is a real boon to us as a co-packer as it not only reduces downtime when we change over bottle sizes, but also reduces the number of change parts required for the machine. In fact, both the 1 litre and 850ml Ribena bottle formats are handled using only a single set of changeparts on the Makro machine.”
