US-based meat producer North Country Smokehouse has launched two sugar-free, paleo-friendly bacon products.
Building on the success of its original bacon lines, North Country Smokehouse identified a need in the market for bacon aimed at health-conscious consumers.
The organic applewood smoked sugar-free bacon is available in 8oz packaging and is slow smoked over applewood embers. The meat is said to have a rich and smoky taste.
Meanwhile, the all-natural sugar-free fruitwood smoked bacon is sold in a 12oz pack and bathed in a fruitwood smoke for more than ten hours. Both variants have a recommended retail price of $6.99.
North Country Smokehouse said both products are free of nitrates, nitrites and antibiotics.
Aaron Corbett, COO of North Country Smokehouse, said: “We’re excited to bring two new sugar-free bacon options to the market. Through our extensive R&D efforts, we ensured that these products pack the same flavour as our award-winning bacon, while aligning with the preferences of the health-conscious consumer.
“We’re also proud to continue our commitment to animal welfare standards by providing USDA Organic and Certified Humane smoked meat options for consumers.”
The two bacon products are on sale in the US, in retailers such as Hannaford Supermarkets, Whole Foods Market, Big Y and Stop & Shop.
New Hampshire-based North Country Smokehouse makes products such as artisanal smoked bacon, ham, sausage, beef, poultry and cheese.
